Superhero Party Part 3: The Centerpieces

One thing you’ll realize about me is that I LOOOOVE candy buffets.  LOVE!  I think it’s must-have at every party.  You get to be really creative with the set-up, the candy colors, and also the candy names!  For Gavin’s party, I wanted it to serve 2 purposes: a candy buffet AND as centerpieces.  I wanted to create a “city-scape” full of candy and other party favors:

We gave the candy buffet “city-scape” a sort of 3-D effect by creating a city-scape backdrop and square plastic canisters.  The buffet included candy and favors like lollipops as “power pops,” “kryptonite” candy rocks, superhero temporary tattoos, pop rocks as “exploding rocks,” “invisibility capsules,” and “x-ray vision vitamins!”

We had paper bags at the end of the table for the kid’s and parents to fill with goodies from  this SUPER candy buffet.

Comic-book Style Superhero Party Part 2

One of the things you can’t do at Chuck E. Cheese’s (probably for a lot of venues) is hang decor from the ceiling or on the wall.  So I was ALMOST not going to use the comic book banner I made out of actual comic book paper.  Then I came up with a solution!  I floated 2 giant 36″ balloons (in blue and red with big white polka dots) on each end of the table and tied the ends of the banner to them to hang it across the table.  Because the paper was light enough, the balloons were able to dazzle quite nicely over the kids’ table.

Superhero Birthday Party {Comic book Style}

It was a long week of prepping for my son Gavin’s 4th birthday party.  He has been obsessed with the whole superhero thing (what 4 year old isn’t?) so of course I knew I had to throw a superhero themed birthday party for him.  We decided to incorporate all the superheroes- comic book style- and we held it at Chuck E. Cheese’s!  It’s a great place to throw parties in my opinion.  Their  birthday packages include everything– including set up and clean up!  It was the first party we had ever attended or held there.  I figured that he and his 4-year-old buddies from school would have a blast playing games, going on the rides, and climbing up and down the play area/jungle gym.  Their party package comes with “rock-star” themed party decor so I let them know I was bringing in m own supplies and decor and they were very accommodating.  It was nice to have Gavin’s party stand out since there were probably 10 other parties going on simultaneously in their huge open party area.  I was thrilled about how everything turned out… and I had the best time planning and hand-making most of his decor!  So here are some details and photos from his Superhero Comic-book Styled Party:

We started with the coolest birthday invitations from The Scrap Shoppe.  They were made to look like the front page of a newspaper which I thought was so unique.  I made these comic-book envelope to compliment them and tie-in the whole theme.  These invites also come with matching printable ‘Thank You’ cards which is double amazing!

Designer Kristi Bender (from COCOCOZY) uses one 36″ balloon in front of her doorway to welcome her guests.  How easy would it be if you could just tell your guests “It’s the house with the giant balloon outside,” when giving them directions to your party?  She also uses these balloons with beautiful tassels in her backyard birthday bash.

Welcoming Spring

Every week, I plan to put together an inspiration board of my favorite party themes. For my first party theme post, I wanted to throw a Vintage Flower Party. Everyone will soon learn that I am in love with everything vintage and everything floral… so, pair these two together and I am in party heaven! This Vintage floral party theme would be perfect for garden tea parties, bridal showers or bridal brunches, and even baby showers. What better way to welcome the beginning of Spring!

Imagine a party with all these lovely vintage floral details.

Creative Outlet

Hello world!

This is my first time blogging… EVER… and so this is all very new to me! But I figured it was time that Ceferina Sweet found its creative outlet and shared its “going-ons!” I’ll start by introducing myself to everyone. My name is Shannon Ceferina, in the medical field by day, working on my party planning at night (although I am a party enthusiast day and night), and on mommy duty 24/7. My love for art, whether it be drawing, scrapbooking, or creating unique and personalized gifts, has always been an escape for me. But it wasn’t until I started planning for my own wedding that I realized how much I loved creating things geared towards celebrations! Everything in my wedding, from the wedding programs to the centerpieces, was handmade. This passion for party planning blossomed even more after planning my son’s 1st, 2nd, and 3rd birthday parties. Oh, it was over! I knew I had to do something that allowed me to share my love for parties. And so, Ceferina Sweet was launched in December 2012. Ceferina Sweet is a little shop on Etsy where you can find all the cutest and sweetest party supplies you need to host and create amazing and unforgettable parties. You can read more in the “About” section of our blog or please feel free to stop by the shop anytime at https://www.etsy.com/shop/CeferinaSweet.

To me, ANY reason to tell someone they are loved or show that an occassion is special should be a party… like a birthday, a baby shower, a baby gender reveal party, a bridal shower, a wedding, an anniversary, a graduation, a party of two celebrating Valentine’s day over a nice home-cooked dinner, even a “just because” party. There are so many ways to make these occassions even SWEETER and more memorable just to show your loved ones that they are SO worth it! There are many reasons in LIFE to celebrate!

Here, I hope to share precious party-finds and ideas that I come across. I want to showcase what’s new in the shop, walk you through some fun and easy DIY party projects, introduce note-worthy friends in the party world, and keep you posted on party-related events. Whether you are a host or a party-goer, I hope my blogs inspire you in some way.

Happy Partying everyone!
